SportsmanAuthority

Plain language, specific systems

Your visit is not a product.

This policy names the records Sportsman Authority can create, the providers that process them, and the choices available to you.

In plain English

You can read the site without an account. We measure site performance, may measure visits when analytics is configured, and may record the context of a retailer click. We do not sell personal information or run personalized advertising.

What Sportsman Authority can collect

The records depend on what you do and which integrations are configured. The site currently supports these categories:

Ordinary page visits
Hosting systems process standard request information needed to deliver and secure the page, which can include network address, browser, device, requested path, and time.
Performance measurements
Vercel Speed Insights receives route, URL, browser, device type, operating system, country, network speed, timing, and Web Vital attribution. Vercel states that these data points are anonymous and cannot reconstruct a session or identify a visitor.
Retailer clicks
When the first-party analytics database is active, `/api/go` can record product, retailer, article or page, button placement, label, component, time, browser user agent, and referrer. It does not store a raw network address in the click record.
Optional site analytics
Google Analytics loads only when its environment setting is configured. If active, it can collect page and event data and use a first-party `_ga` cookie to distinguish browsers and sessions.
Email
If you contact us, we receive your address, message, attachments, and the information you choose to include so we can respond or investigate a correction.

Browser storage keeps your interface choices

The site uses local storage for light or dark appearance and the selected season mode. Session storage prevents repeated reloads if a stale application file fails after a deployment. Those values stay in your browser and do not identify you to Sportsman Authority.

If Google Analytics is active, it can set analytics cookies. You can clear cookies and site storage through your browser. Core articles, tools, and catalog pages remain readable, though your appearance choice may reset and analytics may become less complete.

Service providers process limited data

Vercel hosts the site and provides performance measurement. Read Vercel's Speed Insights privacy and compliance record for its exact data fields and approach.

Google Analytics is dormant unless the site's analytics setting is configured. If it is active, Google processes analytics events under its own terms. Google explains its Analytics data collection, including the `_ga` cookie.

We do not currently run Meta Pixel, personalized ad targeting, a newsletter form, or a user account system. If that changes, this policy and any required choices must change before those systems are treated as active.

Retailer links cross into another company's systems

Every product exit uses `/api/go` so the site can resolve the current approved destination and understand aggregate click intent. The retailer receives the URL parameters and normal request information when your browser leaves Sportsman Authority. The retailer may then set cookies, measure the visit, and process a purchase under its own privacy policy.

Some retailer links may become affiliate links. A qualifying purchase may pay Sportsman Authority a commission without changing your price. The affiliate disclosure explains the editorial boundary.

Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to know, access, correct, or delete personal information, object to certain processing, or avoid discrimination for making a request. California's Attorney General summarizes those consumer privacy rights.

Email hello@sportsmanauthority.com with the subject Privacy request. Describe the record and the action you want. We may need enough information to verify that the request concerns you. We will not ask for unrelated identification.

Sportsman Authority does not sell personal information and does not currently use personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is no sale or targeted-ad profile to opt out of here.

Retention and security follow the purpose

Performance data follows provider retention settings. Retailer-click records support traffic-quality checks, attribution, and coverage decisions. Email records remain as long as needed to answer the message, document a correction, protect the site, or meet a legal obligation. Data that no longer supports those purposes should be deleted or aggregated.

No internet service can promise perfect security. We limit the categories collected, do not require reader accounts, keep integration secrets out of public source, and use encrypted HTTPS connections in production.

This is a general-audience outdoor publication

Sportsman Authority is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly ask them for personal information. If you believe a child sent personal information to this site, contact us so the record can be investigated and removed where appropriate.

Changes and contact

This policy will change if the site's data practices or legal obligations change. The updated date at the top identifies the current version.

Questions or requests can be sent to hello@sportsmanauthority.com or started from the contact and corrections page.
